A peaceful mind means a mind immovably situated in constant mediation on the ātma or soul.

Once this is accomplished it is quite natural that the yogi, attaining communion with the ultimate consciousness by dhyāna or meditation, soon has all blemishes and sins completely purged.

The words śānta rajasaṃ means the quality of rajas or passion has become śānta or peaceful.

Hence one becomes imbued with the qualities of the Brahmam or spiritual substratum pervading all existence and which also refers to the ātma and re- establishes one into their true essence of spiritual splendour.

To such a yogi comes ātma tattva or realisation of the soul and exquisite and phenomenal transcendental felicity.

The word used by Lord Krishna hi meaning verily, is an indeclinable particle which gives a reason denoting that by the reason of ātma tattva being essentially blissful the yogi becomes blissful as well.

“यतो यतः यत्र यत्र | यतो यते धावति इत्यदिप्रयोगात् | आत्मन्योव वशं नयेत् आत्मविषयः एव वशीकुर्याद् इत्यर्थः |” - Whenever means wherever by such usage. Toward the self alone should it be diverted means towards the self alone it should be made to abide. This is the meaning.

27 *'For, nigh unto the Yogin who has thoroughly pacified his mind, who has appeased the Rajas (passion) in him, and—rendered stainless—has attained oneness of essence with Brahman, draws the Highest Bliss.* (383)

With the help of such steadfastness, the mind will, sometime or other, easily get near the Supreme Self. It will then struggle with it, with the result, that awareness of duality will merge in a total Supreme awareness of non-duality, lighting all the three worlds with the brilliant vision of such a unity. The clouds arising in the sky appear distinct from the sky, but when they are dissolved, there remains behind, the all-pervading sky. In the same way the mind gets merged, leaving Supreme unitary sentience to be all in all. Such success is attained through this easy way.

'Praśāntamanasaṃ hyenaṃ yoginaṃ sukhamuttamam, upaiti śāntarajasaṃ brahmabhūtamakalmaṣam'—'Akalmaṣam' (sinless), is he, who is free from tamas disposition, such as obtuseness, inactivity, heedlessness and delusion (14/13).

'Śāntarajasam' (whose passions are subdued), is he, whose rajas propensities, of greed, activity, undertaking of actions with a selfish motive, restlessness and a thirst for enjoyment, are subdued.

'Praśāntamanasaṃ' (one of peaceful mind), is he, whose mind, becomes calm because he renounces all tāmasika and rājasika passions, and is free from mundane pursuits and distractions. Here, the term 'Praśānta' means, that a Yogī, does not accept the mind as his own and so his mind, becomes free from attachment and aversion. Thus, his mind becomes calm, naturally.

'Enam' (this), has been used for the Yogī who attains

tranquillity, as explained in the twenty-fifth verse. Such a Yogī, attains sāttvika happiness.

In the second half of the twenty-third verse, the Lord offers an inspiration to practise the Yoga of meditation, with determination. He, who practises this Yoga, verily attains sāttvika happiness. The term 'hi' used here denotes this certainty.

'Sukhamupatti'—It means, that a Yogī has not to make effort to attain that Supreme Bliss, but it verily comes to him.
