“यज्ञभेदनाह देवम् इत्यादिना | देवम् भगवन्तम् | स एव तेषां यज्ञः | भगवदुपासनम् | यज्ञम् इति क्रियाविशेषणम् | नान्यत् तेषामस्ति यतीनां केषाश्चित् | यज्ञम् भगवन्तम् | यज्ञेन यज्ञम् | यज्ञो विषुर्देवता इत्यादिश्रुतिभ्यः | यज्ञेन प्रसिद्धेनैव | यज्ञं प्रति यज्ञेन जुत्वति इति सर्वत्र समम् तं यज्ञम् इत्यदौ | उक्तं विष्णुं रुद्रेण पशुना ब्रह्मा ज्येष्ठेन मुनुना | अयजन्मानसे यज्ञे पितरं प्रपितामहः ||” - Krishna speaks of the different forms of sacrifices to the divinities and others, देवम् means to the Resplendent Lord. He, verily, is the Sacrifice for them. The propitiation of the Resplendent Lord is the sacrifice; this is the distinctive attribute of performance of action. For the recluse apart from this, there exists nothing else. Sacrifice itself is the Resplendent Lord. By performance of Sacrifice in the Sacrifice, Sacrifice is the Divine Vishnu thus, the scriptures have spoken. यज्ञेन means that which has become famous as sacrifice. Through performance of sacrificial act यज्ञ, the oblations are offered in the sacrifice, यज्ञम्, thus everything is said to be तां यज्ञम् - to Him are the Sacrifices. Brahma, the Grandsire, by way of mental sacrifice, offered his eldest son, Rudra himself, as the animal, (as sacrificial oblation), to his father Vishnu, thus has it been said.

English26 "Others offer the ear and all other sense—centres (conceived as oblations), into the Fires in the form of (sense—) control. Others offer sound and all other objects into the Fires in the form of sense-centres. (126)
Some maintain the sacrificial Fire in the form of self-control or the control of the mind. They offer (conceived as oblations) sense pleasures (objects) accompanied by incantation of hymns, in the shape of the restraint of the body, speech and the mind: others, after the rise of the Sun of Renunciation, make the control of the mind as their abode of spirit and prepare there the Fire of sense-objects. Then with the kindling of the flames of the sensuous pleasures, the sticks of dry wood in the form of the fancies get ablaze while smoke in the form of craving, goes out of the five receptacles in the form of the five senses of the knowledge, leaving them clean and shining. Then they (sacrificers) recite the great hymn “I am the Brahman” and offer plentifully into the fire of sense-enjoyment, in the receptacle (in the form) of the heart, the oblations in the form of sense-objects.”

EnglishŚrōtrādīnindriyāṇyanye saṃyamāgniṣu juhvati'—Here, the offer of senses, into the fires of restraint has been called, sacrifice. It means that some do not allow the senses—ear, eye, skin, tongue, and nose, to incline towards the sensual objects of sound, sight, touch, taste and smell. They constantly restrain their senses.
The senses, the mind, the intellect and the ego, are said to be under complete restraint, when these are totally free, from attachment (Gītā 2/58-59, 68).
'Śabdādīnviṣayānanya indriyāgniṣu juhvati'—Sound, sight, touch, taste and smell, are the five sensual objects. The discipline in which these objects of sense, are offered in the fire of sense, becomes a sacrifice. It means, that even when the objects of senses, come in contact with senses, the senses remain free from attraction and repulsion, or attachment and aversion (Gītā 2/64-65).
In both the sacrifices, mentioned in this verse, perfection or God-realization, is attained, when there is total absence of attachment. This process, of two kinds as sacrifice, has been described, in order to root out attachment.
In the first one, a striver controls his senses in solitude, through discrimination, chant and meditation etc. When there is full restraint, he becomes, free from attachment and then he remains equable, both in loneliness, as well as in practical life.
In the second case, a striver in his practical life, moves about among sense-objects with the mind, intellect and ego and the senses, free from attraction and repulsion i.e., attachment and aversion. When he becomes free from attachment, he remains the same, both in loneliness and practical life.

Those practising celibacy offer all their senses such as hearing and seeing into the fire of their controlled mind and this is their yajña or worship to the Supreme Lord Krishna.
The yajña that the grihasthas or married householders perform is to symbolically offer the sense objects they enjoy into the fire of the senses that enjoy them in an attempt to appease their appetites for gratifying themselves in enjoyment.
