Lord Krishna reveals that of priests His vibhūti or divine, transcendental opulence is Brihaspati the chief priest of all the devas.

The word senānīnām means generals or commanders of armies of them all Lord Krishna's vibhūti is Skanda who commands the armies of the gaṇas and is known as Kārtikeya the son of Shiva.

“विष्णुः सर्वव्याप्तित्वप्रवेशित्वादेः | विष्णु व्याप्तौ | विश प्रवेशने इति हि पठन्ति || गतिश्च सर्वभूतानां प्रजानां चापि भारत | व्याप्तौ मे रोदसि पार्थ कान्तिश्चाभ्यधिका मम | अधिभूतानिविष्टश्च तदिच्छुश्चापि भारत | क्रमणाच्चाप्यहं पार्थ विष्णुरित्यभिसंज्ञितः | इति मोक्षधर्मे ||” - Vishnu, because He pervades, entering the entire space. Vishnu means all-pervading, Visha entering, thus also it is said. “I am the goal for all the creatures and the conscious beings, O Bharata. By Me is the world and the sky enveloped, O Partha and My glory is immeasurable. Abiding in all creatures, I desire their well-being. Because of My strident steps I am called Vishnu”, thus in Moksha Dharma text.

24 "As the Chief of the officiating priests, as Brihaspati, know me, O Son of Pṛthā; of the army-leaders I am Skanda, of water-reservoirs I am the Ocean. 25 "Of Great Sages I am Bhṛgu, of utterances I am the Unitary Syllable ("Om"); of sacrifices I am the Sacrifice of Mantra-repetitions, of stationary masses the Himalaya. (228)

Of the high priests ministering at the altar I am the Brihaspati, the ally of all the Lord of the Heavens and the home of all-seeing light. I am Skanda (Kārtikeya) the great master Mind amongst the army chiefs in the three worlds, who took his birth with fire in "Kṛttikā" from the seed of Hara (Lord Shiva). I am the Sea, the great ocean of water amongst all lakes. I am also the Sage Bhṛgu—the very treasure of austerities amongst the great Sages. Of the entire mass of Word Creations, I am the one Syllable OM from which springs forth the dancing sport of truth, said the Lord of Vaikuntha. "I am the Japa-Yajna, Sacrifice by meditation in this world, the supreme sacrifice of all; raised through the renunciation of all actions, from the meditation on OM the great Nāmajapayajna, the Prime Sacrifice, that without unsettling the daily round of ceremonials, sanctifies both piety and impiety and is, in the Veda, known to be the Supreme Brahman. Among the immovables of the earth I am the Himalaya, the holiest treasure of sanctity" said the husband of Goddess Lakshmi.

'Purodhasām ca mukhyam māṃ viddhi pārtha bṛhaspatim'—

Bṛhaspati, is the best of all the priests, and he is superior to others, in learning and wisdom. He is the preceptor of Indra, the lord of the gods, and is the priest of the gods. So, he is a divine glory of the Lord.

'Senānināmaham skandaḥ'—Skanda (Kārtikeya), is the son of Lord Śaṅkara. He, is said, to have six faces and twelve arms. He is the general of the gods. So he is a Lord's divine glory.

'Sarasāmasmi sāgaraḥ'—Of the mass of water, the ocean is the biggest, is very deep and remains within limits. So it is called a Lord's divine glory.

After beholding these distinctions in the Lord's glories, a striver should think only, of God.

जो स्वर्गसिंहासना सावावो । सर्वज्ञते आदीचा ठावो । तो पुरोहितांमाजीं रावो । बृहस्पती मी ॥ २२८ ॥

त्रिभुवनींचिया सेनापतीं- । आंत स्कंदु तो मी महामती । जो हरवीर्यें अग्निसंगती । कृत्तिकाआंतु जाहला ॥ २२९ ॥

सकळिकां सरोवरांसी । माजीं समुद्र तो मी जळराशी । महर्षींआंतु तपोराशी । भृगु तो मी ॥ २३० ॥

अशेषांही वाचा । आंतु नटनाच सत्याचा । तें अक्षर एक मी वैकुंठींचा । वेल्हाळु म्हणे ॥ २३१ ॥

समस्तांही यज्ञांचा पैकीं । जपयज्ञु तो मी ये लोकीं । जो कर्मत्यागें प्रणवादिकीं । निफजविजे ॥ २३२ ॥

नामजपयज्ञु तो परम । बाधूं न शके स्‍नानादि कर्म । नामें पावन धर्माधर्म । नाम परब्रह्म वेदार्थें ॥ २३३ ॥

स्थावरां गिरीवरां आंतु । पुण्यपुंज जो हिमवंतु । तो मी म्हणे कांतु । लक्ष्मियेचा ॥ २३४ ॥

(10.228) जो इन्द्र का सहायक, सर्वज्ञता का आदिपीठ, और पुरोहितों में श्रेष्ठ है वह बृहस्पति मैं हूँ। (229) हे महामति! तीनों लोकों के सेनापतियों में मैं वह कार्तिकस्वामी हूँ जो शंकर के वीर्य और अग्नि के संग से, कृतिका के पेट से उत्पन्न हुआ है।

(10.230) सम्पूर्ण सरोवरों में जलराशि जो समुद्र है वह मैं हूँ, महर्षियों में तपोराशि जो भृगु है वह मैं हूँ।

(10.231) वैकुण्ठविलासी श्रीकृष्ण कहते हैं कि सम्पूर्ण वाचाओं में जिस सत्य का व्यवहार है वही एक सत्य अक्षर मैं हूँ।

(10.232) इस लोक में सम्पूर्ण यज्ञों में जो कर्मयोग-द्वारा ओंकारादि से उत्पन्न होता है वह जपयज्ञ मैं हूँ।

(10.233) नाम का जपरूपी यज्ञ श्रेष्ठ है। उससे स्नानादि कर्मों की बाधा नहीं हो सकती। नाम से धर्माधर्म पवित्र होते हैं, और वेदों में कहा है कि नाम परब्रह्म है।

(10.234) लक्ष्मी के कान्त कहते हैं कि पर्वतों में पुण्यवान और पूज्य जो हिमालय है वह मैं हूँ।

‘पुरोधसां च मुख्यं मां विद्धि पार्थ बृहस्पतिम्’—संसारके सम्पूर्ण पुरोहितोंमें और विद्या-बुद्धिमें बृहस्पति श्रेष्ठ हैं। ये इन्द्रके गुरु तथा देवताओंके कुलपुरोहित हैं। इसलिये भगवान्ने अर्जुनसे बृहस्पतिको अपनी विभूति जानने-(मानने-)के लिये कहा है।

‘सेनानीनामहं स्कन्दः’—स्कन्द (कार्तिकेय) शंकरजीके पुत्र हैं। इनके छः मुख और बारह हाथ हैं। ये देवताओंके सेनापति हैं और संसारके सम्पूर्ण सेनापतियोंमें श्रेष्ठ हैं। इसलिये भगवान्ने इनको अपनी विभूति बताया है।

‘सरसामस्मि सागरः’—इस पृथ्वीपर जितने जलाशय हैं, उनमें समुद्र सबसे बड़ा है। समुद्र सम्पूर्ण जलाशयोंका अधिपति है और अपनी मर्यादामें रहनेवाला तथा गम्भीर है। इसलिये भगवान्ने इसको अपनी विभूति बताया है।

यहाँ इन विभूतियोंकी जो अलौकिकता दीखती है, यह उनकी खुदकी नहीं है, प्रत्युत भगवान्की है और भगवान्से ही आयी है। अतः इनको देखनेपर भगवान्की ही स्मृति होनी चाहिये।

महर्षिणां भृगुरहं गिरामस्म्येकमक्षरम्।
