The 12 Ādityas are revealed in the Vishnu Purāṇa being Dhātri, Aryamā, Mitra, Varuṇa, Indra, Vivasvān, Pūshan, Parjanya, Amśa, Bhaga, Tvaṣṭṛ and Vishnu.

The Supreme Lord Krishna's vibhūti or divine transcendental opulence is the one bearing the name Vishnu who is chief of them all. Of the lights that shine in the countless universes Lord Krishna's vibhūti is the solar group consisting of all suns.

Of the 7 Maruts being Avaha, Prahava, Nivaha, Purvaha, Udvaha, Samvaha and Parivaha who are different varieties of winds blowing throughout space, Lord Krishna's vibhūti is the chief wind known as Parivaha who bears the name Marīchi, the primal wind which precedes all the others.

Of all constellations Lord Krishna's vibhūti is the Moon. The genitive case of the word sasi meaning moon is not referring to one out of many but is specifying one over all. Thus naksatranam aham sasi refers to the moon as being the Lord over all the constellations.

This will also be exemplified similarly in the next verse where He states His vibhūti is the consciousness in all beings which means that what exists as consciousness apart from intelligence is His vibhūti also.

On verses 10.21–10.25

“विष्णुः सर्वव्याप्तित्वप्रवेशित्वादेः | विष्णु व्याप्तौ | विश प्रवेशने इति हि पठन्ति || गतिश्च सर्वभूतानां प्रजानां चापि भारत | व्याप्तौ मे रोदसि पार्थ कान्तिश्चाभ्यधिका मम | अधिभूतानिविष्टश्च तदिच्छुश्चापि भारत | क्रमणाच्चाप्यहं पार्थ विष्णुरित्यभिसंज्ञितः | इति मोक्षधर्मे ||” - Vishnu, because He pervades, entering the entire space. Vishnu means all-pervading, Visha entering, thus also it is said. “I am the goal for all the creatures and the conscious beings, O Bharata. By Me is the world and the sky enveloped, O Partha and My glory is immeasurable. Abiding in all creatures, I desire their well-being. Because of My strident steps I am called Vishnu”, thus in Moksha Dharma text.

On verses 10.21–10.22

21 *Of Ādityas I am Vishnu, of luminaries the Sun (named) Amśumat; I am Marīci of the Maruts, and the Moon amongst the stellar bodies.* 22 *“I am, of the Vedas, the Sāmaveda, of the Gods I am Indra; of the sense-centres I am the Mind, and of the living beings their Sentiency.”* (221)

So saying, the kind (God) said, “I am Vishnu amongst the Ādityas; (Twelve sons of Āditi, the wife of progenitor Kashyapa); of the lustrous things I am the Sun beaming with rays; and of the host of gods I am the Marīchi-Patriarchal (first-born) beings. I am Sāmaveda amongst the Vedas,” said Govinda, “Indra, the brother of Maruta amongst Gods; the mind, the eleventh organ amongst the organs of sense, and life-breath of all living beings.

'Ādityānāmaham viṣṇuḥ'—Vāmana (Viṣṇu) is the most important son, of all the twelve sons of Aditi. As an incarnation of Vāmana, He got the property of demons, as charity, and gave it* to the sons of Aditi viz., to the gods.

'Jyotiṣām raviramśumān'—Among the luminaries, such as the moon, stars and fire etc., the Lord is the radiant sun, by whose light, all of them are illuminated.

'Maricirmarutāmasmi'—The Lord, is the glory of the forty-nine Maruts (wind-gods). It is because of that glory, that Indra, the king of the gods, split the foetus of Diti into forty-nine parts, but the foetus instead of being destroyed, was turned from one to forty-nine.

'Nakṣatrāṇāmaham śaśī'—Lord Kṛṣṇa, is the lord named moon of twenty-seven stars, such as Aśvinī, Bharaṇī and Kṛttikā etc.

Whatever distinction there is in those divine glories, is of the Lord.

[In this context there is a description of the Lord's divine glories, rather than His incarnations as "I am Viṣṇu among Aditi's sons" (10/21). "Among wielders of weapon I am Rāma" (10/31), "Among the members of the Vṛṣṇi clan, I am Kṛṣṇa and among the Pāṇḍavas, I am Arjuna" (10/37).]

used to point out the important thing out of many and to show their affinity. In the first part of the verse it has been used for importance while in the second part for affinity.

* The sun of the month 'Kārtika' is also known as Viṣṇu.
