“येऽतिमानेन मन्यन्ते परमेशोऽहमित्यपि | मिथ्या जगदिदं सर्वे भ्रमजत्वान् तिष्ठति | मिथ्यात्वान्नेश्वरोऽस्यास्ति परेभ्यो न च जायते | स्वसिन्नपि तथाऽन्यस्मिन् नियन्ताऽन्य इतीरिति | प्रद्विपन्त्यसुरास्ते तु सर्वे यान्यधरं तमः | अयोग्यशक्तकामाच्च लोभाच्चात्मसमर्पणे | तच्चवेदिषु कोपाच्च तमस्तेपं न दुर्लभम् | अक्षागमानुमानां च स्वोक्तेरपि विरोधिनः | यस्मात् तेऽतोऽसुरा ज्ञेया एवमन्येऽपि तादृशाः | ये तु विष्णुं परं ज्ञात्वा यजन्तेऽनन्यदेवताः | प्रत्यक्षाद्यविसंवादिज्ञानादेव विमुक्तिगाः इति ब्रह्मवैवर्ते ||” - Those who think that ‘I am the Supreme Lord’ or who considers this world to have been established as nothing but as an illusion and (further) since the world is an illusion there is no Lord to organize it, or no one has created it, or who despises if informed that both ourselves and others are controlled by the Supreme Lord, all these, verily, are demonic and will attain the world of darkness. The unworthy Jivas, who assume no difference between them and the Supreme Lord, who do not surrender their selves to Him showing undue desire or poverty of intellect and hatred towards worthy souls, for them the world of darkness is not impossible. Contradicting direct perception and authority of the Vedas, those who speak this world to be illusion are assuredly a-suras. The men of wisdom, who knowing Sri Vishnu as the Supreme Lord and being men of wisdom propitiate no other divine beings, such ones become eligible for deliverance, thus in Brahma Vaivartaka Purana.
Being conscious of the blissful stages, divinities are said to attain greater happiness than the asuras (the unenlightened). That means the gandharvas (celestial beings), the lowest of the human beings and gods may attain deliverance. Further in विमोक्षाय the preposition वि makes it clear that even in deliverance there exists gradation (taratamya). It is but natural that the Jiva is a god, a-sura, or a human being because of their natural attributea and there can never be any change in their inclination. Because of curse some like Prahlad become born as asuras, but this asura attribute is not natural to them. Therefore, they attain their natural attribute of the gods. Like the alum which is clear, appears red with association of red flower, these appear to be asura because of the effect of the curses. But that is not a permanent stain and it cannot change their inherent divine attribute. Therefore the ones with divine attributes becoming eligible for the love of Sri Hari become fit for deliverance. They are not capable of being unhappy.

English18 *'Dominated by egotism, power, pride, lust and wrath such traducers feel extreme hatred for Me, who (actually) am dwelling within their own body as well as that of others. (389)*
Then with big kettle-drums and flags in front they parade their own role of being the conductors of the sacrifice—but all in vain. With such (parading of) importance, their egotism gets increased. The coating of lamp-black given to darkness renders the latter more dark; in that way their folly thickens, their arrogance is heightened, egotism is doubled, and thoughtlessness is strengthened. Their prowess gets additional strength, so that none else should be strong enough to raise his head up. With a coupling together of egotism and power in this way, the sea of pride rushes past its limits. Then with pride thus overflowing (exuberant), lust also gets wild, and its heat kindles the fire of wrath. The big store of oil and ghee (blazing) catches fire in the hot season, and simultaneously blows a strong breeze of wind to fan it (fire): in that way, egotism gets strengthened while pride gets shrouded in lust and wrath, and then they are both united in them (demoniacal persons). Will they then hesitate to commit violence following their wayward impulse? First, Oh Dhanurdhara, they (get prepared to) wrench out (and offer as a sacrifice) their own blood and flesh to secure success in the art of incantation and charms to destroy and injure others (जारणमारण). In this (masochistic) process they torture the body in which I dwell (as Atman), the wounds inflicted on the body being felt as blows struck at Me (Atman); and to whomsoever, these enchanters and black magicians cause hurt—all that causes pain to me abiding in them all as I do, as sentience; and whosoever is luckily saved from the harmful effects of their machinations, (that person) is pelted with brickbats (by the black magicians) in the form of vile slander. Virtuous women, saints, men of charitable disposition, sacrificers, unique persons practising austerities, and ascetics, as also other devotees and great souls, who are the favourite places of my abode, and through whose performance of sacrificial rites as laid down in the Scriptures, these (places) are rendered holy—against such also these demoniacal persons discharge arrows in the form of slander, poisoned and sharpened with deep and bitter hatred.

English'Ahaṅkāraṁ balaṁ darpaṁ kāmaṁ krodhaṁ ca saṁśritāḥ'—
People possessing wicked nature, are given to egoism, force, arrogance, lust and anger. They depend on these propensities, in the same way, as devotees depend on God. They believe, that a person without these propensities, is humiliated and crushed. So, they cultivate these and perpetuate them, so that they may win honour, praise, name and fame, and may keep other people under control.
**'Māmātmaparadeheṣu pradviṣantah'**—The Lord says, that those people hate Him Who dwells in their own bodies, as well as, in the bodies of others. The ordinances of scriptures and jurisprudence (Smṛtis), are His own ordinances. Those thus disobey Him, and are malicious against Him, are thrown into hell. They despise the Lord, in two ways. First they do not obey the voice of their conscience, which tells them what is right and what is wrong. Secondly, they despise, insult and distress other people, who are none other than, the manifestations of the Lord.
**'Abhyasūyakāḥ'**—These malicious people, find fault with Him, as well as, with others. They say, that the Lord is partial, because He protects the devotees, and destroys the wicked. They are jealous of saints and ascetics, who are virtuous and they believe, that all saints, ascetics, devotees and strivers, also possess vile propensities, such as attachment, aversion, lust, anger, selfishness and ostentation etc. They oppose, adoration, meditation, fasts and pilgrimages etc., declaring these as futile pursuits, which bear no sweet fruit, because they themselves, have received nothing out of them. They have merely wasted, their time. Thus, those demoniac people, follow a path, contrary to the right one.
**Appendix**—The men endowed with demoniac nature are very obstinate and they adopt a stubborn attitude in what they believe to be true. This is the principle that only the man who is sad himself, causes sadness to others. The men of demoniac nature remain afflicted with sorrows, so they cause sufferings to others also. They don't perceive virtues in others but perceive evils in
them. They hold that all goodness is vested with them. There is no one else in the world who is good or virtuous.

Swami Ramsukhdas · Modern
Here Lord Krishna describes more tell-tale signs and characteristics of the demoniac.
The word ahaṁkāra means egotistic, thinking they are independent of the Supreme Lord.
The word darpaṃ means insolence, thinking that they as demons are all important.
Pradviṣantaḥ means despise, the envious demoniac openly despise the Supreme Lord.
Even though the Supreme Lord is ātma-para- deheṣu or situated within them and all living entities as the immortal supreme soul, the demoniac endeavour in earnest most spitefully to cause great evil to all creatures.
The demoniac exhibit overt malice and aggressiveness against anything righteous and determinedly oppose the Supreme Lord at every opportunity in every way they can.
They take great pains to degrade moral values, encourage depraved activities and destroy the family unit.
They propagate that god does not exist, that creation came from a random mixture of chemicals and that there is nothing existing after this life so it is better to eat, drink and be merry without cessation.
They concoct many doctrines, conduct many seminars and establish many schools of thought to negate the idea of the existence of a singular consciousness, a Supreme Being or Supreme Lord that is the creator and supreme controller of all creation.
This is the demoniac’s gross folly and unredeemable sin is that they despise the Supreme Lord Krishna who is the origin of their very existence and the creator of the complete cosmic and material manifestations.
